15. The Alarm: Standards

The Alarm put out their first greatest hits album, Standards, in 1990.


Just like most collections like these, there’s nothing really wrong with it. It’s just the highlights from their first four albums. All of the songs you’d expect to be there, plus a cover of John Lennon’s Christmas song, an updated version of their first single, “Unsafe Building,” and “The Road,” which is a new song. When I got this one, I played it so many times I’m surprised it didn’t get warn out. But still, this copy has lasted more than 25 years. Not too shabby. If you like the Alarm’s hits, but don’t really want to go much deeper, this is the way to go. I think it’s out of print now, but you can get it pretty cheap on the used market.
